Deb Nugent Handicap at PMCC 1st August 2020.
Yesterday finally saw the club return to group riding.
With Paul’s follow handicapper sunning himself in Qld and riders getting their entries in early as asked he was able to sweat over the groupings and timing all night and all morning!
Riders went off in what he hoped would be similar groups. In some cases with every little knowledge of where riders form was returning after bushfires and the COVID break. The first group off 14 minutes before the last. With the second group out of three riders Todd Iain and Steve eventually taking line honours in that order. Todd broke away on the last lap and held it to the line . Asher (2nd last group) Lleyton ( 3rd last group ) and Kev ( last group) filled 4/5/6 across the line. Lleyton was the first club junior across the line- congratulations Lleyton.
Kev had the fastest time of the day in just over and hour 1 hr 1min 40 secs.
Unfortunately Alani had a flat and dropped her chain on the second last lap, but was progressing through the group nicely.
Prior to the seniors Payton was on the track and would love for our juniors to come back to racing so she can ride with other juniors
Big news – James this week rode with a shadow and next week had been promoted to E Grade Congratulations James!!!!
We welcomed Emma from Manly, Asher from Coffs and saw Michael Iain Alistair Stu Oscar Jazz and Nick back out on the roads.
Again another big shout out to all who volunteered to make this race possible Rick Marian Jan Liz Paul and Christy who setup yesterday were traffic controllers road sweepers Covid officers Commissaries photographer and first aid
Also thanks to Ted down from Coffs HCC who helped com.
Next week we need extra helpers as some of our volunteers would like a chance to race !
Our volunteer numbers are alittle depleted as senior members are busy taking holidays up north.
We would also like to thank our riders who are all wrapping their heads around our COVID Safety Plan and making our COVID officers job a little easier
