2020 Road Season Wk 9

Week 9

.

September 12th Change-it-Up Grade Scratch Race

This weeks race was a graded scratch using Course 2 or the “L” course.

First off on the Crit Track we had Hudson riding with his dad, Leroy.
Hudson has been making some good improvements week to week and it would be good to get some more junior riders out there to give him some competition.

First off on the road were our A grade riders Brendan, Kev and visiting Coffs rider Asher. The pace, as usual, was on from the start with Asher loosing contact with the two older riders around the mid-point. Brendan put in a late attack returning from the dam distancing himself from Kev and was able to keep the gap and take the win with Kev and Asher rounding out the placings.

B grade saw the return to racing of Joel Armitage who lined up against Steve, Monty, Alani and Paul.
The group stayed together for the first half of a lap before Paul sowing his lack of any sort of training during the week (or for the few months before) explode off the back at the first sign of and incline in the roads surface.
The rest of the group were working well together until a puncture for Monty and with no team car around had walk back to the club house for a wheel change.
Alani was next to feel the sting of the pace and dropped off the front 2 riders but was able to hold on for 3rd place.
Joel took the top step of the podium his first race back with the club with Steve in second place.

C grade was the biggest field again this week with 6 riders lining up Simon, Lachlan, Iain, Gareth, Todd and Tim.
The group worked well together a few attacks over dam hill had Tim and Gareth in trouble and lost contact with the group.
The rest stayed together for a bunch kick with Simon having the legs to out sprint Lachie and Iain for the win.

D and E grade had solo riders Bradley and James.
Brad left with the C grade group but was distanced by them in the first lap settling into time trial mode he rode the rest of his race at his own pace.
James as usual rode well and is showing that he is developing into a great young bike rider.

Big thanks to our volunteers Liz, Bree, Rick, Libby, Muzza and Marian.

Next week we have the second round of the S.E.N.D series being hosted by Coffs Harbour
Hope to see a strong PMCC representation.
