Racing Saturday May 11th 2019

After setting up the Traffic control for the NCAS riders at 9:30am for their training session and then for our PMCC scheduled racing at approx. 10:30 some quick reorganisation by our commissaires and traffic control planners saw a last minute change to our PMCC racing course for the day, due to an increase in traffic at the Go-Kart track who were having a “Drifters” meeting and the Motocross in Cowarra Dam Access Road who were having a training day. Together with concern for our riders safety from a person purporting to be the President of the Port Macquarie Motocross and some late issues caused by car parking along Burrawan Forest Drive in and around the corner of Cowarra Dam Access Road rider safety was becoming an increasing concern.

Our Commissaires Wayne & Rick in consultation with Joan & Phil(Traffic Control) decided it was safer to ride a modified version of Course 11, which is “Over Wright’s hill and out to Birralee”.

Course Description

Start/Finish ⇾ north along Burrawan Forest Drive to T-intersection ⇾ left turn then ride along Burrawan Forest Drive over Wright’s Hill to Birralee Dr then U-turn ⇾ ride back past S/F ⇾ U-turn approx. 400 metres past S/F ⇾ Start/Finish. The finish however being on the return from Birralee at the S/F (ie heading south).

After consultation and agreement between the Commissaires & the riders, the riders setout for the first time in more than 12 months on this course ( the first time ever for some riders) well for the most part. It was a tough and demanding 14km approx. course. The distances were B Grade 3 laps, C grade 2 laps and D Grade 1 lap. Thanks to Christy Drops and Stuart for giving up their rides to shadow some of young our juniors. The NCAS athletes except for Ben and Olive found the going tough after their long and exhaustive morning training for The Percival Property Port Macquarie Junior Tour ITT and Road Race. Even the NCAS coach Aaron Virieux found our modified race course a challenge.
Although the going was tough, everyone seemed to  love the course. Well done everyone especially to our winners
